Richard Rabinowitz, MD, FACS, is a board certified urologist practicing in Pinellas and Pasco Counties since 1997. Dr. Rabinowitz is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), a Diplomat of the American Board of Urology, and is licensed by the State of Florida Board of Medicine.
Dr. Rabinowitz graduated from Northwestern University school of Medicine in Chicago, IL. He then completed his general surgery internship and urology residency training at Barnes Hospital, Washington University in St. Louis. Barnes Hospital and Washington University in St. Louis are consistently recognized as one of the top 10 urology training programs in the United States.
Dr. Rabinowitz has a special interest in the identification and management of prostate cancer having trained at one of the world leading institutions for the treatment of this disease. Dr. Rabinowitz has performed or assisted in over 700 radical prostatectomy's. Dr. Rabinowitz is involved in national prostate cancer awareness screening, prostate cancer support groups, and has also conducted numerous seminars on prostate cancer. Dr. Rabinowitz also has multiple journal publications on the management of Prostate Cancer utilizing Brachytherapy.
Dr. Rabinowitz also has a special interest in kidney stone disease having been fortunate to have trained by one of the fields leading experts. Dr. Rabinowitz performs advanced endoscopic management for difficult stones, as well as assess the metabolic reasons for why patients form stones.
Other areas of interest and treatment include; BPH, ED and voiding difficulties. Dr. Rabinowitz has been involved numerous pharmaceutical drug studies for the treatment of prostate cancer, BPH, erectile dysfunction and incontinence.
Dr. Rabinowitz has served as both the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Department of Surgery for Morton Plant NorthBay Hospital as well as served on the Medical Executive Committee. Dr. Rabinowitz is a member of the Performance Standards and Credentialing Committee for the BayCare Integrated Network.
Dr. Rabinowitz is an active member of the American Urological Association (AUA) , American College of Surgeons, Southeast Section of the American Urology Association, American Medical Association, Florida Medical Association, and Pinellas County Medical Society.
